The volume is the result of specific investigations carried out by scholars who have long been trying their hand at the various topics addressed in it. It constitutes an updated development of the figure of Francesco di Marco Datini as a man and as a merchant. Through the internal history of its business system and the analysis of the historiographical debate of the last decades, the volume reconstructs fundamental aspects of the economy of the time; proposes a reinterpretation of the mentality and tools adopted by Tuscan merchants in the years at the turn of the fifteenth century; offers new elements and ideas for reflection on the life of Francesco Datini, his family relationships, his idea of ??wealth, the construction of the palace.
