Parallel ITALIAN and ENGLISH texts (translator shown as Alexander E. Martin) Dr. Taher Sabahi is an Iranian who has settled in Italy and has devoted himself to the Oriental rug in a thoroughly praiseworthy manner. There is not only his own rug gallery in Turin, his editorship of Italy's rug magazine "Ghereh", and then the writing and publication of beautifully present monographs on various aspects of the Oriental rug. The present item was created as the handbook to a travelling exhibition showcasing select pieces from Italian dealers and collectors - Giancarlo Cobelli of Bergamo, Hasan Pashamoglu of Vicenza, Tiziano Meglioranzi of Verona Walter Marchi of Conegliano. The first forty pages are devoted to commentaries on Geography ; on History ; on The History of Sinkiang Textile Art ; on Sinkiang Carpets (notes on 19th and 20th C. Weavings) ; and on Oasis production (Khotan, Kashgar, Yarkand). All the texts are illustrated, some in colour.
